i guarantee that your phone has buttons labeled "hold" and "transfer". please press the first one while you're hunting up the extension of the person i just asked for, and the second once you've found it so you can put me through to that person -- rather than setting down the receiver while you shuffle papers and then telling me what the number is and hanging up on me. my tax dollars pay your wage, you know.
