girlfromsouth on the way in this morning. she is evidently temping in the same building, although not at the same firm.
dudes: the lobby still smells the same. i have gone through the looking-glass, but not into a happy if surreal world with animated chess pieces and talking dinners. through a different looking-glass, through a crazy sort of funhouse mirror into a world where the past two years never happened, except they did, because there are people i knew who aren't here any more, and people here who don't know me -- but they've heard of me, yo. and the receptionist called my old teammate to come and get me and told me to have a seat, and then about five minutes later looked at me sort of sideways and said "you used to work here." (me: "yes. yes, i did.") and two separate people have stopped, literally, stopped in their tracks and walked backwards for a few steps to make sure they weren't hallucinating and it is, in fact, me.
the case i've been brought in to work on is apparently the biggest active case in the firm. my summer's about to get crazy, y'all. just so you know.
