the beatings will continue until morale improves

[eta: you know, in fact, fuck it: capital letters for this one.]

-> Was looking forward to leaving work on time (5:30) yesterday. About 5:00, it became clear that wasn't going to happen. Didn't actually leave the building until 8:15. Babysat frantic attorney through last-minute frantic project. Acquired headache.

-> Got home, ate some dinner, did things for the RPG, cursed my DVD player for not playing nicely with the West Wing DVDs (memo to [livejournal.com profile] jgesteve -- may need to exchange these; I'll have to see if they work in the DVD-ROM, or if there are problems with them as well as with the machine), went to bed. Slept like a stone.

-> Was looking forward to quieter day at work today. Not to be. Every time I think "oh, good, now I'll have time to _______", the phone rings. This is about the ninth time I've intended to update the LJ, for instance.

-> It fucking hacks me off when we (my underlings and myself) get yelled at for not distributing important documents to the client when the things come in addressed to attorneys who (claim overwork and other things, but bottom line, who) don't give them to us. The fact that it's those very attorneys who are yelling at us is just further ironic injustice.

-> The common theme in all of the above, really, is this: your inability to chew what you have bitten off is not my responsibility. My problem, yes. My fault, no. It is not a matter of whether I could or could not do what you've been trying to do -- it is not a matter of my qualifications at all. The only thing it has to do with me is, I count on you to do what you're supposed to do in order to be able to do what I'm supposed to do. So when you drop the ball, yes, I'm going to blame you. And so is the rest of the team, and everyone who's been depending on you. Because none of us is the one who screwed up.

I'm just sayin'.

-> Still not pregnant. Which is outstanding news, don't get me wrong. But, you know. Doesn't make the mood any brighter, you know what I'm saying?

Tell the bastards incompetents. Don't let it pass now; otherwise, months from now, they will recall it as the incident where you goofed, not them. Which they did. In spades. You go!

(Did you, er, want to get pregnant? In some way?)

(in some way? eh?) of course not -- don't be silly. :-) that was just a bit of TMI, about how comprehensively it was Not My Day.

Well, for me, finding out I'm not pregnant would have been the one shining moment of the day, not proof that everything was going wrong... ;-)

the fact that i'm not pregnant is, as i said, good news (although it hasn't actually been a concern of mine). the evidence that i'm not pregnant is just one more damn thing to deal with, on a day already past its limit with trials.

:-)

Ahhhhh. The wooshing sound you heard earlier was the remark flying over my head.

Speaking as someone who had a period the first month she was pregnant, it's not 100% off-the-hook :-)

Sorry about the work situation; just think, you'll be putting it all behind you soon.

... and what in god's name are you doing up at this hour?!

Duly Noted... FYI - Sports Night arrived in shipment today.

I'm not pregnant either!

Which is a good thing because I could be unemployed sometime in the next six months.

Welcome to the Walmartization of the white collar working world. HR would rather people hire off the streets than pay my salary and get my experience.

[set whine = OFF]

Sorry.

Wait you're *trying* to get pregnant or am I missing some posts? If so which days?
