dear world:

no, seriously. give it a rest, will you?

my grandmother has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. she's in the hospital for monitoring, and the doc says there's a medication that will strengthen her heart and make her feel better. there's no damage, so there's been no heart attack. (hey, take the good news where you can get it, eh?)

Have hope. My Mom was diagonsed with the same thing just about a month and a half ago. She is on the road to recovery.

Please don't fret too much about this. Congestive heart failure sounds awful, like OMG IMMANENT DEATH! But in fact all it really means is that the heart is wearing out. It's a very common ailment in the elderly. Both my parents have it, and have had it for years. My mother was diagnosed almost 10 years ago, my father, about 20. He requires medication and oxygen at night, she takes nothing for it. Light exercise, the right diet, proper meds, supplements all help. She could live for decades with this.

Yes, yes, precisely! Meant to say something like that earlier, Fox, it's okay, it really is. I mean, it's not good, but congestive heart failure is something you live with. Yes, it'll eventually mean passing, but it so doesn't mean now. Mark's mom has it (as you know) and she's had it for years and years, it's only recently, that she's developing so many other problems, that it's becoming difficult to live with.

It is far better to have it diagnosed where it can be treated, just keep remembering that. And I'm still sending big hugs over your way.

{{hugs}} and ditto what dargie said. It's not a good thing, but it's often not as bad as it sounds.

*hugs* It's a good thing the doctor found out about it though, at least she can get medication.

((((hugs!)))

Good thoughts and wishes out to your grandmother and you, too, in coping!
