i don't have enough fandoms to answer those questions ...

So, instead, miscellany.

My bookbag, which has been with me since I went away to college, finally bought it today. The outer layer's been wearing through for some time, which I was okay with, but lately a hole has appeared in the outer layer at a spot where that's the only layer there is, and plus the zipper split and I couldn't make it go back together, and in fact when I tried to do so the zipper pull broke and put a nasty scratch in my hand. So, new bag. I managed (like it was a big strain) to resist getting one with school logos smacked all over it.

Better news: my car, my baby, had his 40K service and he's humming all smoothly now. He's so happy. Which makes me happy! -- glad to know he's all clean inside and comfy and stuff. I have friends who think it's strange that I name my cars, and refer to them with personal pronouns, but my feeling is, I don't keep pets, so this is my nearest approximation.

This car is Simon. His original owner, a good friend of mine, named him Wilhelm and called him Billy, but he always looked like a Simon to me, and when he came to live with me, the name changed. He still answers to Billy, when his old friends call him by his old name, but he goes by Simon now. (This is no doubt news to [livejournal.com profile] mearagrrl, but I've just never mentioned the name change in that crowd. I don't think they'd understand, and what would I tell them? The car went into the federal witness protection program? [g]) Simon is a blue '99 VW Jetta with a manual transmission. Damn right -- I heart stick-shift!

Curling club meeting this weekend. I'll have to pay dues, which will suck, but I'll practically be curling, which rocks. Er -- which is awesome. And, plus, no classes next Monday or Tuesday! I didn't learn this until yesterday, and hadn't expected it, never having gone to a university with a Fall Break (well, a Reading Holiday -- I guess Fall Breaks tend to last a whole week?) before. I'll have to find some way to occupy my time. Coolness.

I'm glad I'm not the *only* person who doesn't have enough fandoms to answer that survey. At least, I don't think I do....

I'm shocked. Shocked and dismayed. How can I ever trust you again? He's not a Simon! Hmph. :)
