-- have signed up to pinch-hit for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. because am insane. woo-hoo!

-- my brother was supposed to come home today after his contracts exam in the morning. figured he'd be here mid-afternoon. he called around 4:30, not having left yet, and not quite ready to go. he finally called again at about 10:30, having taken four and a half hours to reach his mother-in-law's, where he was going to stay put and not try to get the rest of the way here. the roads where he was were bad, and there's less-traveled roads between there and here, including a quite steep and somewhat windy hill that's always a little exciting in bad weather. so we'll see him tomorrow morning.

we were supposed to get six to eight inches of snow today.

there were maybe six or eight inches on the ground already; it is now above my knees.
