anyone know, or know how to find out, when something rotten is due out in paperback?

and: comments on yuletide stuff answered. [checks this off to-do list] (except the ones where people didn't leave e-mail addresses. them, i'll have to track down.)

i wrote Fortune's Fool, a riff on Romeo and Juliet, for brigdh ([livejournal.com profile] wordsofastory); it's up at my site now as well, and many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] merrycontrary and [livejournal.com profile] ellen_fremedon for beta assistance.

i also pinch-hit The Comte D'Anjou, or, It's All Gone Pear-Shaped, off A Knight's Tale, for Mari ([livejournal.com profile] ficangel). it is also at my site, and more beta thanks to [livejournal.com profile] merrycontrary.

woo!

also, the author of my gift, The Ghost of Christmas Past, is Agnes Joseph, whom i don't know. but, santa has a name! thank you, agnes!

when i said i got to remain anonymous for another hour and a half, of course i meant for another thirteen and a half hours. duh. silly me. [eta: and people are digging it. cool.]

but actually it's even longer than that, since the Yuletide reveal -- which i thought was going to be at noon today -- has apparently been delayed. which, let me be perfectly clear, is no problem at all, as the lovely [livejournal.com profile] astolat deserves all the shut-eye she can get. [genuflects before [livejournal.com profile] astolat and [livejournal.com profile] tzikeh]

[livejournal.com profile] yuletide pinch-hit is off my desk. i'm less bananas about it than i was about my work in the first round, but i'm Not Displeased in general. plus, almost an hour and a half still to go in which i can remain anonymous. :-)

will now relax. [g]

back in my parents' house. lopped a day off the family visit because my grandparents find it wearing to have people in the house so much -- more on that tomorrow, perhaps. am only at skip=250, which is a decent thing about going away for a short time over a holiday when the posting is light. have been getting lovely comments (including some from people i admire very much) on my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide fic, which, if i could thank you all in such a way that you knew it was me, i would, but not yet. only, i'm pleased. :-)

yuletide is live!

[livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth has subtitled this good news "i knew i shouldn't have gone online while i was trying to finish my pinch-hit story ...", and i wholeheartedly concur.

but i did! and i read me a Quantum Leap fic (The Ghost of Christmas Past) that someone wrote for me with an Al voice that just pleased me to tiny little pieces. thank you, whoever you are! merry christmas!

am full of dinner. my brother's sister- and brother-in-law were stuck on the plane for a lot longer than they were supposed to be (actually they were supposed to get in yesterday, but their flight was cancelled, and then today they landed on time but sat there for an hour before anyone was able to connect the plane to a jetway), so dinner was late, but still good, and good company, and yay. roast beef, yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, veg, salad, and more dessert than you can shake a stick at. brother's mother-in-law brought triple chocolate mousse cake and replica wedding cake (from the same baker who did the original). we also had christmas pudding, which was a big hit. am stuffed.

must now chip away some more at the yuletide pinch-hit, and get up in the morning to drive to my grandparents'. i will likely (extremely likely, since i don't think i'm even going to bother bringing the laptop with me) be internet-less until late in the day on the 28th. but i will have my cell phone with me.

happiness and peace, y'all. amen.

"Try Me" from She Loves Me

8. i can't see why people disagree/ each time i tell them what i know is true
"Run and Tell That!" from Hairspray

11. unless there's something else you've got in mind/ we've got better things to do
Chicago, "Stay the Night"

12. if your love has to tie me, don't try me/ say good-bye
The Monkees, "I Wanna Be Free"

15. ontario, you know i've seen a place i'd rather be/ your scummy lakes and the city of toronto don't do a damn thing for me
Stan Rogers, "Watching the Apples Grow"

-- have signed up to pinch-hit for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. because am insane. woo-hoo!

-- my brother was supposed to come home today after his contracts exam in the morning. figured he'd be here mid-afternoon. he called around 4:30, not having left yet, and not quite ready to go. he finally called again at about 10:30, having taken four and a half hours to reach his mother-in-law's, where he was going to stay put and not try to get the rest of the way here. the roads where he was were bad, and there's less-traveled roads between there and here, including a quite steep and somewhat windy hill that's always a little exciting in bad weather. so we'll see him tomorrow morning.

we were supposed to get six to eight inches of snow today.

there were maybe six or eight inches on the ground already; it is now above my knees.

[livejournal.com profile] yuletide assignment is off my desk. huzzah! yay for the betas, and now the chance that i will forget about the thing entirely until i wake up in a panic on the 22nd and it's too late and the thing was done but just not submitted and i have effectively banned myself from ever participating again is nil. huzzah!

[crosses this item off to-do list]

and now, it is almost 5am, so soon i will hop in the shower, emerge from the shower, pack my last few items, stop downstairs to ring QueenP's buzzer so he doesn't oversleep and miss his bus, and head out to catch my bus -- on which i will sleep and be taken to the airport.

woo-hoo!
fox: speech bubble: really, that girl is such a deviant. (deviant (by Sam))
i'd actually forgotten about this. yes, in the past 48 hours.

right. here we go, then.
