Dear Fox and [other student],

It sounds as if it would be better to delay. You would have a chance to refine your essay and get better. I would have a chance to read both your work (I'm not going to have any free time before out tutorial). We could leave it until next Thursday, and then, if you wanted, insert another tutorial at 3pm  (or even 9am) on Monday of 9th week. What do you think?

so, as predicted, the world has not ended.  but, bleargh.  i didn't like doing that.
