(yes, in my week of illness i've been reading the newspaper rather more thoroughly than i usually do.  i did leave the house both yesterday and today, to buy juice and soup and medicine and things.  and i'm getting better, really.  no need, as i said to merrycontrary the other day, to bust out the feeding tubes just yet.)

anyway.  in other news:  rock the hell ON, governor of illinois!

Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich (D) issued an emergency rule Friday that requires pharmacies to accept and fill prescriptions for contraceptives without delay, after a growing number of complaints nationwide that some pharmacists are refusing to dispense birth control pills and the "morning-after" pill.

He also established a toll-free number that residents can call to report refusals by pharmacies.

Well, yeah, he did one good thing, but he's still an idiot. Don't even get me started on the current state of Illinois politics.

oh, he even looks like an idiot. but in the current climate of the whole then-why-ARE-you-a-pharmacist-anyway thing, i can get behind an executive order like this one.

...which is not to say that I'm not thrilled he took action. It just doesn't change the fact that he has a remarkable talent for giving really big contracts to people who happened to give him large campaign contributions.
