west-facing windows mean the room gets its most direct light at the end of the day. in warmer climates, this means it gets really hot inside in the evening, so i've had occasion to hate west-facing windows before. here, i don't (yet) have that particular problem, but i do have the problem that my desk is right under my window, and the evening sunlight comes so directly into my eyes that i have to close the curtains before it's dark out. if my window faced east, i'd be able to keep the curtains open for more of the day, and get more hours of light overall. rar.
