listen, do we know for sure that sam didn't win the special election in the california 47th?  i know the whole mood of the season was that he couldn't possibly win, but i don't remember it ever being decided.

I remember him losing. And the next time they mention sam is when josh does something awful and everyone says he should be fired and donna mentions to him that sam called and he said, "keep your chin up"

To the best of my knowledge, it has never been revealed that Sam didn't win in the 47th, though it was always implied. However, he supposedly had a job back at the White House if he didn't win, so...

But they also never mention him being in Congress as one of "thier" guys....

Well, that's quite it. They never really mention him at all. He's just gone the way of Mandy, Ainsley, Bruno and all the other random characters.

Bruno's back. He's managing Alan Alda's compaign, but he's back.

It's never explicitly stated, though heavily implied that he doesn't win. You can write it both ways. I have.

it's not really a question of writing it -- i almost never write sorkin-verse. it's a question of what i can reasonably allow myself to believe. :-)
