came home just now and noticed, through the window in the kitchen door, that there was a pot on the stove.  things being how they are, i went in to make sure it was not in the process of boiling dry, exploding eggs, etc.

pot was empty, and the burner it was sitting on wasn't on -- but the burner behind it, which had nothing on it, was on max.  [facepalm]

You are opposite of me. Every morning after I lock the door and start walking away I have this strange OCD need to return to my apartment to check that I turned the stove off (even when I KNOW I did).

oh, i turn the stove off. this is my flatmate, bless her heart, who has the best of intentions, but one day will burn us all to the ground.
