first of june

a little startling for it to be june already.  today is wednesday of 6th week, out of 8 weeks in the term, which means i'm two and a half weeks from being halfway done with this degree.

how frightening is that?

granted it's a shorter academic year than i'm really used to (3x8 weeks with 6 weeks in between each is 24+12=36, which is shorter than 2x16 weeks with ~4 weeks in the winter and maybe ten days in the spring = 32+6=38 -- so it's not that much shorter), i really do not feel like a whole academic year has almost gone by.  i feel, most days, not that i don't belong or am still new in town, but nevertheless like i just got here, and at least some of the college staff have said they feel the same about my year, that we've only just arrived.  was talking about this with [livejournal.com profile] servalan yesterday, and i thought maybe it's because i'm in reasonably frequent contact with people back home, so it doesn't feel to me like i've been away that long.  DCfolk, what say you all?  does it seem to you like i just left, or like i've been gone forever?

To me it seems as though you've been gone FOREVER!!! (to quote my dogs, who think everything is either going to LAST forever, or be gone FOREVER!)

Really though, having you miss a whole curling season makes it seem long.
