batman begins
(oh, this post? contains spoilers for what lies beneath as well as for batman begins, so if you haven't seen it and think you'd like to, maybe don't click.)
OH, HELL, YEAH.

here's how much i dug this movie: katie holmes didn't even bother me that much.
i do like me some christian bale, but the real rock stars are michael caine, morgan freeman, and (a guy i didn't recognize as) gary oldman as the future commissioner gordon (because i hadn't actually known gary oldman was going to be in the film). LOVE LOVE LOVE. and! liam neeson! as the bad guy!

i was so pleased! i remember when i went to see what lies beneath thinking 'huh, you know, now that i think about it, i've never seen harrison ford play the villain' -- and then didn't he turn out to be playing the surprise! villain in that very film. but this time i don't think i even thought that! huzzah-yay! [clasps the whole movie to her chest gleefully]
(i do remember, though, that mr. liam neeson was going to retire from the business. what was that, ten, eleven pictures ago? with (according to IMDb) two more in pre-production, one in post, and one completed and awaiting release? heh.)
side question: what happened to the little kid?
