NYCLU says random bag searches are unconstitutional and ineffective.

on a whole other subject, why is there no such thing as coconut soda?  i think that would be really tasty.

The chinese grocery I used to go to (in the city I used to live in) had coconut soda. It was... chunky. But if you could get over that, it was pretty tasty.

[livejournal.com profile] gail_b said that too, about chinese groceries! she didn't say chunky. and i'm also prepared to believe it'd be kind of alarmingly sweet. but maybe i'll give it a try if i can find some.

alternatively, maybe i can get coconut nectar of some kind, and dilute it with soda water. i've done that with apple juice, orange juice, pear nectar -- why not coconut? (probably not with coconut milk, though. because eww.)

Check a big Asian supermarket - they have several types of coconut soda here, including some with chunks. Sometimes the chunks are coconot and sometimes they're tapioca or sometimes it's a surprise!

OTOH, I would almost swear Goya makes a coconut soda ...

It appeals to me not at all, or I'd know for sure.

Yeah i was about to mention that.

I grew up going to markets and places that catered to the caribbean and latino communities and they (goya) have a great cocomut soda.

Being a citizen of Atlanta, I can brave the wilds of World of Coca Cola and tell you not only if they sell such a thing overseas (they sell really weird shit to their overseas customers) but roughly what it tastes like. WoCC has a tasting room with a sampling of their foreign drink offerings.

I didn't get far on my first visit, having nearly drained the diet Coke dispenser. Besides, a Coca Cola product with no fizz in it seems wrong to me.
