because i promised [profile] orange852 weeks ago:

here is a picture of my poor sunburnt neck, cleverly disguised by about eight layers of makeup, some judicious use of fake tan, and the necklace [livejournal.com profile] orange852 sent me for a couple of christmases and a handful of birthdays.

it's actually not quite as easy to see in the picture as i thought -- but that's good, i mean, the fake tan did its job.  i was, i think, mildly allergic to the stuff -- it wasn't a problem, but it wasn't something i could continue to use for a whole season, and the vague mottling (at least, i can see vague mottling) below the necklace is a result of that.  beginnings of a slight adverse reaction.

what you're looking at above the necklace is a nasty, nasty sunburn up to about the point where if you drew a horizontal line between the spots where the necklace disappears, and then un-burned, fair skin above that.  the burn resumes again on the face, which i have mostly cropped away.  :-P  there's a layer of moisturizer on there, then a layer of revlon's "skin lights" lotion, which is responsible for the faint sparkliness -- i love the stuff, not so much for the glitter (which, if you use little enough, is pretty subtle) as for the thing where it evens out the tone.  SO MUCH LOVE.  then a layer of liquid foundation, which i don't normally wear -- i had to  buy it specifically for this purpose; and a whole mess of pressed powder.  all that, combined with the fake tan below the necklace, and the necklace itself, and the average passerby who wasn't looking at a closeup photograph might not have noticed the glaring, sky-illuminating sunburn there.  w00t.

[livejournal.com profile] orange852 also made the earrings, which i admit are hard to see against my hair.

and, the scar on the underside of my chin is from when i fell down, as a kid, one time when i was swinging between the sewing table and the arm of the sofa, and cut myself on the beveled hardwood floor.  five stitches!

[peers intently at earrings]

OK, I don't have to meddle with them. I still like them. It's gotten really bad, the extent to which I wish to pull things apart and reassemble. ;)

Do we get to see the rest of the dress, the color of which I'm grooving on?
