meme from [personal profile] sharp_tongue

1.  Reply with your name and I'll respond with something random about you.
2.  I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3.  I'll pick a flavor of jello to wrestle with you in.
4.  I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
5.  I'll tell you my first memory of you.
6.  I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7.  I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8.  If I do this for you, you might post this on your journal. If you've the time to do it justice, that is.

oooh, me! :D

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2005-08-21 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
1. i know more about your underwear than i know about most people's underwear who i've never met. ;-)

2. songs, movies, i don't know, but every time i see jennifer garner, i think of you.

3. hmm. grape!

4. i still haven't forgotten weasleybones! only we always seem to have other things to fuss with, don't we.

5. oh, you pinged me to ask me if you had Guessed my Secret. (and you had!)

6. something cute, with cute ears. a kind of bear, maybe. i don't know. (eep!)

7. i'm not sure why you don't realize how strong you are.

[identity profile] juice817.livejournal.com 2005-08-21 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
1. that sounds so bad, [ggg]
2. hee! me too, actually - once in awhile i'm surprised i don't look like her
3. oooh. i love grape!
4. we do, but i'd love to dig it out and finish it someday soon
5. [feels so smart]
6. as long as it's cute
7. i have no idea what you're talking about.

Me!

(even though jello is a major squick for me).

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2005-08-23 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
1. i (like many people, i imagine) have no idea how to pronounce your last name.

2. i don't know, man. would you kick me if i said 'the fly'?

3. blue raspberry, of course, apart from, no jello because squick. so it'll be potential, rather than kinetic, blue raspberry jello. :-)

4. i do know how to pronounce your first name, but i will not. (and thanks!)

5. gosh, my first memory of you is lost in the mists of time. it was on m_a over at onelist that i first ran into you, right? i do remember that you were at [livejournal.com profile] mrshamill's Soiree, and you sorted me out on inherited vs. congenital conditions.

6. oddly i think you remind me somewhat of a fox. i don't know why the blue hair makes me think 'foxes', but there it is.

7. why flies? honestly. (another geneticist friend says "The genes on Drosophila are HILARIOUS!" -- which, to him, i suppose they are? [g])

1. Three syllables, stress on the middle one.
2. The movie (Cronenberg version) that is the story of every serious romantic relationship I've ever had!
3. The only way jello could be made worse...(I've an intense aversion to raspberries. Other berries are fine, but raspberries? Ick!)
4. Likewise.
5. That is indeed so. I think [livejournal.com profile] mrshamill's soiree is the only time we've met in person.
6. huh.
7. Initially? I was interested in retroviruses as transposable genetic elements, but the grad program I ended up with had no retrovirologists. It did, however, have some fly people, and flies have transposible genetic elements, so, same topic, different system. Later, I found that I really liked flies (elegant powerful genetics, cheap and easy to work with, can be used to address the same molecular questions as higher organisms, and no one throws blood at you or pickets your house when you work with flies) and I really liked the fly community (what a bunch of wacky weirdos. And the gene names ARE hilarious; we give our genes names like "shaven baby" and "i'm not dead yet" and "mothers against decapentaplegic" and "daughterless" [where the C. elegans people give their genes names like "unc-27" and the mammal people give names like "PSD95"]).

1. there is also a [livejournal.com profile] sharptongue, who was briefly linked from something RPG-related, and was terrifying. i'm glad you turned out to be the one with the underscore. :-)

2. (i'm really bad with this question, as you may have noticed.)

3. champagne jello. naturally.

4. your lucius was a good boss. mac wouldn't have been so devoted to anything less. :-)

5. i think what i remember is that you joined so smoothly into the thing that there was no need to worry about fitting things together -- which was nice. i'd been playing against The Lucius That Wasn't for so long, it was so good to have one, finally, and then so excellent that he was so cool. :-)

6. sssnakes have sharp tongues, don't they?

7. i wonder when you will reappear and i will get to hang out with you again. [pout][g]

[identity profile] sharp-tongue.livejournal.com 2005-08-24 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
1. *shows off underscore and looks coooool*

2. *grins* Me, too.

3. Mmmmm... *wants*

4. Of course Lucius was good. He's naturally fabulous at everything. *Lucius preens and struts*

5. *grins* You were one of my favorite parts of the game. One of the only parts that I liked, in fact. I adored your Walden.

7. *hisses and shows off tongue*

8. Aww... *pets* Soon? I just bought a condo and have been buried under fixing it up. I barely have enough sleep to function every night, between working on my place and working at work. But I'll be done soon!

[identity profile] lardencelover.livejournal.com 2005-08-21 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well. Okay. Although I don't know that we have any inside jokes, do we?

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2005-08-25 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
1. i had a friend in high school named mandy, and it wasn't short for amanda, and she was very firm about this -- so firm that i don't think i've ever assumed anyone called mandy (or mandi) was ever short for amanda ever since. i guess that's something random about your name, rather than about you, but there you go. [g]

2. i'm no good at this question, but funnily enough, every time i hear U2 i think of you. wonder why that could be. :-)

3. orange jello.

4. i wish i could Accio my friends, too, but not just for that reason. ;-)

5. i think i asked you who you'd used in seamus' icons. in an early exo conversation, anyway.

6. something nocturnal, that's for sure.

7. i wonder why you didn't leave home when you finished high school.

[identity profile] merrycontrary.livejournal.com 2005-08-21 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Me, please.

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2005-08-25 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
1. i have a hard time thinking of you by your real name, because i have a great-aunt with the same name (only spelled with an 'e'). so 'merry' it is. :-)

2. really no good at this question. classical things, though. that a ballet dancer could dance to.

3. red jello!

4. more tickets = crazy girl! but that is good.

5. hmm. it would have been in The Game That Must Not Be Named. i suspect we had to work something out between mac and pansy, but hell if i can remember what.

6. a bird.

7. i wonder why your brain chemistry doesn't get its act together and leave you be. :-( i wish it would!

[identity profile] cannons-at-dawn.livejournal.com 2005-08-21 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes please. Rhian.

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2005-08-25 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
1. i had a friend in edinburgh who was welsh on his father's side (and english on his mother's), whose name was Rhys, and was so surprised that i could pronounce it (and 'll') properly that i went ahead and felt a little bit smug. but your 'Rh' seems not to be the same as his, even when i hear you pronounce your own name.

2. not only am i lousy at this question, but i don't even know most of the music that would remind me of you if i did know it. :-)

3. it'd have to be whisky jelly, wouldn't it.

4. DUDE!

5. the first O>U<3FS meeting! (this is also my first memory of [livejournal.com profile] servalan, [livejournal.com profile] sebastienne, and [livejournal.com profile] foulds.) you'd made the sign with the U crossed out in pink highlighter. :-)

6. hmm. you'll kick me, but i'm going to say a swan -- but a swan that doesn't believe it, i imagine.

7. sometimes, when i haven't seen you for eons, i wonder if i ever will again.

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2005-08-26 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
1. weren't there, like, eight thousand of you from wisconsin in our freshman class? (okay, but you, and [livejournal.com profile] kronemab, and Altar Boy!, and no-chin Wendy (wasn't she?), and probably a whole phalanx of other people, right? what's up with wisconsin?

2. heh. someone just mentioned to me Hot Chocolate's 'You Sexy Thing', and i have to say, it's not a bad call. [g]

3. hmm. let us say grape jello and leave it at that, shall we?

4. i don't remember specifically what you said, but i know you did something positive in my 'defense' at [livejournal.com profile] datlowen's birthday last year, and i don't want you to think i'll ever forget that. the specifics, yes, but in general, no. MWAH.

5. oh, gosh. would it be the ESCAPE bus where i met [livejournal.com profile] mearagrrl and [livejournal.com profile] kronemab, or would it have something to do with the Ritz Men Only? ;-)

6. a chipmunk, or a squirrel -- something that scurries around. don't ask me why.

7. sometimes i wonder if you're happy and (/or) healthy, but then you give updates on that, and i'm glad. :-)

[identity profile] anariel-di-gaia.livejournal.com 2005-08-21 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Me! Me! Me! (imagine lj equivalent of jumping up and down, waving my hand in the air).

Ruth.

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2005-08-27 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
1. well -- but i don't know anything random about you, do i? i know how to pronounce (and spell!) your surname. how's that?

2. ... i continue to be no good at this question.

3. lemon jello. :-)

4. i'm glad you decided to join us. and you only knew about us because of me, right? so i'm extra-glad!

5. you came along to a meeting! yay!

6. a baby animal of some sort. (i'm sorry, but all y'all are infants! ... but not quite young enough to be my children. [g])

7. i wonder what life is like over in new college, i'll tell you what.
