happy thanksgiving, everyone
i hope your thanksgiving has been as good as mine.
i decided, at about 1:00 this afternoon, that since a downstairs neighbor of mine knew where to get dark corn syrup (a difficult thing to find in britain, lemme tell you), i'd make pecan pie for thanksgiving dinner tonight. called my mother for the recipe, went to choir practice, send neighbor to fetch me groceries.
went and donated blood.

it hurt, more than i can remember it hurting most of the times i did it in the US (there was this one time when they put the needle through the vein instead of into it, and that hurt like hell ...), and for about thirty seconds the thing was taped down in such a way that i could feel my own pulse in the tube leading away from my arm -- but they fixed that, and although it did hurt, i was so goddamn happy to be able to donate again. and on thanksgiving day, too, which meant more to me than to the national blood service, but whatever. it still hurts a bit, actually, under the band-aid. but i don't care. picked up a bone-marrow-registry leaflet, as well.
stopped on the way home and bought a pie pan, and made a pecan pie which -- fast-forward to after dinner (omg SO MUCH FOOD) -- earned the enthusiastic praise of everyone who tasted it. a genuine-from-louisiana southerner pronounced it "truly outstanding". the guy i'd enlisted to chop the nuts for me declared that i will one day rule the world. people are, in general, in favor of this pie.
and i can't see the colorbars on any of those ones y'all are posting from the IsLove Generator, but when i followed the link and took the test myself i got (surely because i have no interests listed, but who cares, that's a detail) "
darthfox is love". :-D
and now i'm full of turkey and wine and pie, and thinking about going to bed.
