so, four more hours of the sick, and it wasn't letting up. i couldn't face the idea of spending a whole night like that -- so i called the doctor's office, and the girl on the phone told me they were all booked for thursday and friday, but if i called on friday between 10 and 11 they could probably work me in to a cancellation or something. she was making a note that i was going to call, she said. okay, i said, but isn't there someone who can just give me some advice, now, just someone i can talk to about something i can do or take to get some relief, please? and i could tell i was practically in tears, and she must have heard it as well, because she said Okay, at 5:15, there's a training session, you'd see a medical student first and then a doctor afterward, and i said I'LL TAKE IT -- what, that didn't count as an appointment? whatever.
and i texted a few of my friends in the building to see if someone would come with me, because for real i was feeling weak and dizzy and didn't know if i could do it by myself. so off we went, and the doctor told me it was most likely a fast-acting bug of some kind, but there was also a slight chance it was some kind of food poisoning -- not from spoiled food or bad handling practices, but just from bad luck, and the timing was exactly right, he said, with the onset of symptoms in about twelve hours (and not the, like, four to six i'd have figured).
so, who knows. but he gave me medicine and told me to drink weak ribena (in small sips), and by about 10 last night i was able to fall asleep for real.
have now showered and brushed my teeth and things; don't think i'm ready to eat anything, which could be a problem as has now been about 43 hours since last time i had solid food, but meh. have to go out and get some things at the drug store, but think will just lie down for a few minutes first.
