well, we'll see on sunday or monday, i guess --

went to the iolanthe audition yesterday.  explained that my voice is ^here but if it was okay with them and they'd let a soprano sing an alto part, i'd like to audition for a part written _here.  but i had three songs to choose from depending where they wanted to hear me sing (from three different operas, even!  josephine's "sorry her lot" from pinafore act 1, for the top stuff; katisha's "oh living i" from mikado act 2, for the deep stuff; and tessa's "when a merry maiden marries" from gondoliers act 1 in case they wanted to just split the difference); i was generally trying to be accommodating.  they had me sing the katisha song, and i think i did it well -- it goes down to a B, or possibly a Bb, which is low for my head voice, but i managed it.  and then rather than have me sing another song, they just had me do arpeggios until they'd had enough, and without even having warmed up, i went up to C# two ledger-lines above the staff.  [scratches head]  so, yeah.

anyway, they were very nice, which doesn't actually mean anything wrt my chances, but is very nice, anyway.  :-)  they're auditioning friday and saturday as well, so they won't have made a decision until sunday at the earliest.  let us keep our fingers crossed!
