well, don't we all know who i want to grow up to be?

once upon a time, one of you posted a (locked, hence the mystery) entry that included the following conversation (paraphrased):

A:  I think you should ask me out.
B:  Yes I should.
A:  So nu?
B:  I've got some things to sort out, but when I have, I'll call you.
A:  I like you, but I'm not patient; I may not wait.
B:  I like you.  If I need to, I'll wait.

we are less interested at this point in B's excuses and whatnot, and more interested in A's koyech, fortitude, and other expressions of bravery.  i think you should ask me out.  why is it i can't bring myself to say such a thing?

fwiw, i *know* i can say "hey, want to go out with me?" but i don't think i could bring myself to say "i think you should ask me out". i'm not sure if this is bravery or a distaste for passivity, though.

what i came the closest, today, to saying was sort of in between: "so, would it be weird if i asked you out?" only i didn't, because a) e-mail? no, if you can't do it for real, you don't deserve to do it at all; b) i feel icky and gross today, and i probably wouldn't go out with me dressed like this and with my hair in this kind of shape and so forth; and c) i'm really the world's tallest invertebrate.

maybe tomorrow. [chews nails]

That's one thing I love about LJ, the strange and unpredictable connections. Fancy seeing you here!

yes, it was. i wasn't going to draw attention to it, because, you know. locked. and not everyone on my flist is on hers. :-P

Oh, apologies (I've deleted my comment). I thought you were saying you didn't remember who had said it!

i figured. :-) no worries -- i'm sure she wouldn't mind, only, yeah.

Sorry, maybe I'm missing something, but why does A) need B) to ask him/her out, why can't A) just ask B) out? Granted, from the conversation it sounds like B) might say "not right now" but "ask me out" seems both forthright *and* passive.

I'm not sure why you can't do it, but the reason why I did is that I was just tired of the bullshit dancing around and such. And for whoever "kingchiron" is, most men respond better when they do the asking, even when you suggest that they do it. Besides, it amused me. And anyone who actually knows me will tell you that I'm anything but passive.
