Remember the yay, math moment from a week or so ago?

Supervisor says no, logO-logE is better than log(O-E); the second thing is sloppy and bad, and in fact there's no need to include it at all, even in the "further discussion of things I'm not really bothering with" section.  That's the harshest comment on today's draft -- "This is a non-solution to a non-problem".  (And the un-harshest comment is "Better!" with a bit underlined and a checkmark.  Yay!)

Content is fab. (There is a bit in the "further discussion of etc." section where he says "that's an interesting idea, but you haven't left yourself enough time to do it" -- but the paper doesn't suffer without it.) The word length max is exactly that, an absolute maximum. In fact there were notes from a meeting sent around today about possibly changing some requirements so more things can be examined by essays rather than written tests, and it said blah blah not to exceed 15,000 words, is the proposal -- and then someone expressed a concern on the record that someone might actually write 15,000 words. So, heh.
