A little non-billable time never hurt anyone ...
So I'm at work, after three sick days and a federal holiday, and there's nothing to do. I mean nothing. Called up the Guy Who Finds Things For People To Do, and he said many of us had been calling him, and he'd try and see if anyone needed a hand, and he'd get back to us. So I'm basically pulling down my hourly rate for straightening my desk and paying the bills. And going to lunch. Woo-hoo.
I took the sick days because I have been feeling Not At All Well. I haven't been sleeping much or well; I finally concluded that I'm making myself sick with worry over the continued non-arrival of my grad school acceptance letters (why, yes, it's still only the middle of February), and sternly instructed myself to Stop That This Instant. Took something to settle my stomach, took something to put me to sleep, and slept for eight hours.

emrinalexander said it all, and said it well: Preach it, sister.

Heh. I'll riff on this for a moment.
Movies (even if bad) -- saw Amelie this weekend (on the parents' dime, no less). It was quite charming. Should get to the movies more often, as there's a mall with a decent first-run theater not two blocks from my place, but normally by the time I get home from work I'm (as they say in GBR) knackered.
Books (even if bad) -- just finished Wicked (which I originally purchased on your recommendation!), and found it excellent (as was Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, by the way). Re-reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (which, I was told by a friend in the retail racket, was to be called Harry Potter and the Doomspell Tournament until someone leaked the title -- my friend held onto a display card). Have list of Books I Am Embarrassed Not To Have Read, given that I am an educated person who can talk intelligently about literature -- even some of these books I haven't read! :-) The Scarlet Letter, for instance. Never read a word of it. And that's just the beginning. Wish I could afford to assemble a collection of Things To Read; should hit library, but also have fondness for having books on own shelf.
Sex (even if bad) -- from your mouth to god's ears. Sigh.
Trips to the zoo (even if bad) -- went to the zoo this weekend, in fact! My dad wanted to see the new giant pandas (Tian-Tian and Mei Xiang, and they're *cute* -- but I love pandas) and the baby elephant (whose name begins with K, but I can't remember it), so we did. The baby elephant was taking a nap.
I do manage to distract myself. Sometimes. And other times, I fret. Just the way it goes.
