playing through it

Lost our second game, this morning.  The bummer was not so much losing, as not playing well.  I was v. annoyed with myself.

Also, this isn't why we lost, but some time early in the game, the wire snapped in the right cup of my bra, and this went from annoying (third end) to uncomfortable (fifth end) to painful (seventh end).  I kept having to unzip my fleece vest, tuck more of my shirt up under my bra, and rezip the fleece to cover it back up again.  Talk about your wardrobe malfunctions.  It turns out that the wire on this particular bra was less a wire and more a steel band about an eighth of an inch wide.  And it had broken not with a clean snap, but with a jagged, sort of snaggle-toothed edge, so it cut right through the fabric sleeve it was living in and poked hell out of me.  I was fortunate not to be bleeding all over myself, the ice, etc.  So I had to go to the Wal-Mart (this being All There Is out there) between games to buy a new bra, because, OW.

Won our third game, which was also kind of a bummer -- not because we don't like winning, because we do, but this was just out of control, man.  We stole three in the first end and the thing kind of went downhill (for the other team) from there, which, it's never fun to be on either end of a rout like that.  It's more satisfying to win than to lose, but it's not fun to like smack the living shit out of people.  They conceded after the seventh end, which was just as well, because we didn't have enough room on the board to hang the score of the seventh end.  So, glad to win, but sorry it was like that.

Anyway we're in the third event semifinal at 8:30 tomorrow morning.  Tried to get the other team to agree to play the semifinal tonight, but they weren't up for a third game in one day.  Further bummer.
