RANT RANT RANT RAAAAAR

Okay, so, preface: my problem is nothing like as problematic as the real problems people have when they're between health plans (or, god forbid, don't have insurance at all). I understand that.

But.

Days left in my current pack of birth control pills: 13. (Make that 12, she said, taking Monday's pill a few hours late -- and this isn't a thing about how it only works reliably if taken correctly, so let's not worry about going there, shall we?)

Packs of pills left after this one: 0.

Days until I will be able to see a doctor and get a new scrip: >13, that's for sure. Even >20, which is really the number we're interested in, on account of the seven green pills I wasn't bothering to count. Probably >20 from the date my coverage kicks in, which is not today, because of all the processing time.

Days until my coverage kicks in: Who knows? At least 7 to 10 business days from when they receive my form, which was sent to them last Friday, so you'd think the end of January would be a safe bet, but apparently not.

So. What I'm trying to do is get the folks at the doctor's office to supply me either with samples or with a prescription (which I'll pay for!) that will cover the gap between now and when I can see the doc for an exam and a new, real prescription. After talking to the branch, the regional membership office, the HR department here, and the state office of benefits, it appears that there is no way to make this happen.

Any suggestions?

Oh, hey. I thought I'd looked into Planned Parenthood a few months ago, and found Damn Few clinics in my area, making the whole thing a monstrous pain in the ass -- this being why I had my friend the pregnant daughter of an OB/GYN (so she gets her pills for free, but went off them in order to get knocked up) send me her spares. But a wire seems to have crossed somewhere, because there is a clinic near me. And open on Saturday! I'll have to give them a call, because I'm free this weekend.

For reasons enumerated above (http://darthfox.livejournal.com/692719.html?thread=2018543#t2018543), the extension-from-the-last-doc option is not really an option, here.
