so i'll tell you what

The daily parking garage at BWI has cameras over every space reporting to a digital readout in the main lanes that tells you in real time whether there are empty spaces in that aisle or not.  I am in love with this feature, and would like it to be instituted at real airports (National, Dulles) as well as others I occasionally drive to (Cleveland).  I am not, however, in love with the distance from the daily lot to the terminal, nor with the frequency of the buses that bring you from spot A to spot B, nor with the fact that my flight which was meant to take off at 6:50 is now delayed until 8:13.  BAH.

The ticketing lobby, though, has a shiny shiny white floor that I swear someone must go through and sweep and wax like every half-hour, because that is some clean, un-scuffed linoleum, is what.

[ETA:  Things it's fun to hear at the security checkpoint:  "That's not a quart-sized bag?"  "No, sir, that's a gallon."

Am at the concourse bar now, drinking Killian's and playing with the computer and talking a very nice lady through cleaning up her desktop and making her computer run faster.  Hee.]

BWI is my favorite parking airport for that reason. That, and although it's far, at least it's a garage I can park at without feeling like I"m wasting tons of money. (Plus sometimes they have coupons!). National is still my favorite (because of the metro--parking there sucks), but BWI is right up there, and Dulles is WAY behind in the running.

Also, I spoke to the FBI(?) about you today. She asked me if I was one of those "fiction writers." Heh. Unfortunately, I was not able to remember the details of your work study job from freshman year (hell, I barely remember the details of MY work study job from freshman year!!), but I was able to assure her that I'd seen your apartment in Edinburgh...and that as far as I knew, you had no plans to violently overthrow the government. (Y'know, I'm not sure she specified the AMERICAN government. Hmm....)

Did she (NSA, by the way, but just a contractor) ask you about freshman year? Yeah, it was the work-study job senior year that she was supposed to be talking about. I think she'll find if she does a little digging that I didn't qualify for work-study my freshman year ... which, if she's turning in reports with Doubts About My Veracity because she can't ask the questions right, GRR.

Also, "one of those fiction writers"? Heh. Wonder who she's been talking to -- I didn't think I had too many fans on the list. A lot of curlers, though, which evidently amused her quite a bit.

Hah! that would explain why I really didn't have any memory of you working there freshman year...not that I really remember you working there senior year EITHER, but yeah, she was asking about freshman year.

We did also talk about curling. :)
