Back up to Needless Markup for what I hope will be the last time -- they do have colors that Nordstrom and even Bravissimo and Figleaves don't, but dude, Chevy Chase = hell. If I need NM in the future I can go to Tysons, but given that the place doesn't take Visa (AmEx, cash, or check, but no Visa and no MasterCard, hi) I hope this will not be frequent. Would have done the exchange yesterday if it hadn't been for the fact that they were closing for inventory as I walked up to their entrance. Grr. At least the guy who was closing the gate validated my parking so I didn't have to pay two bucks to have come into the building and then left again.
Then, concert. Fingers crossed -- we hope it will go well, but even if it doesn't, at least it will be done. This is, hmm, not my favorite music that I've ever sung, and there's a lot of uncertainty about it in the chorus; which, last year at about this time, I was in a (generally weaker) chorus doing Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil, and there was a lot of uncertainty about that, and the last rehearsal before the gig we mixed together instead of sitting in sections, and my god, the whole thing changed. (A lot of us thought that maybe this was because the people who didn't know it, when they weren't surrounded by people who did know it singing their part, rather than go without a net, simply shut up. Hard to say, because I did know it, and I was standing near people in other parts who did know it, so we felt fine.) That's not going to happen here, but this is a stronger group, so maybe there'll be an eleventh-hour reprieve. Wouldn't that be nice.
And then a little party, and then home. Maybe try to straighten up the living room. Do some laundry. Back to work tomorrow. Where do the weekends go, eh?
