me and knitting

Final stats on the first half of the scarf:  204 rows.
  • cast on 34 (I did a double-cast on, so I came away from this with a row already knit)
  • knit 4 rows (I only knit 3, because see above)
  • *knit 3, purl 28, knit 3
  • knit all stitches*
    • repeat * - * for 200 rows:  38 purple, 6 cream, 156 purple.  This yields 5' of scarf.
I have joined the red and am now about six rows in to what I hope will be 156 rows -- that is, I'd like the same number of rows to give me the same length, because I'm anal like that.  And then six rows of cream and 38 of red, and then knit 4, and bind off.  And fringe.

Meanwhile, because I wanted to be sure I could, I practiced some with my circular and some random practice yarn until I felt good about it, and have now begun the hat!
  • cast on 72
  • knit 1, purl 1
  • *knit 1 in back, purl 1*
    • repeat * - * for 22 rows, then turn and do some other stuff I haven't remotely got to yet
I've done 4 of the 22 rows, and my ribbing looks (if I say so myself) fabulous.  The pattern after the turn involves putting markers in every 18 stitches for the decrease, yielding four panels; ambitiously, I had planned to do two each of red and purple on opposite sides, but now that I think about it I realize that may not work.  I'll have to think about it some more.

I've got it pretty bad, y'all.

Is this some sort of magic spell? :)
