If you, like me, hate that you have to move between Gmail and gCal, and if like me, you use Firefox, Lifehacker has a FF extension called Better Gmail (http://lifehacker.com/software/exclusive-lifehacker-download/better-gmail-firefox-extension-10-now-available-280064.php) that you can install that has, among many other tweaks including a Gmail Skin I love, that embeds the Calendar as an option on the sidebar of Gmail, and opens the calendar in the area where your mail normally would be listed.

Hmm. I can see the plus of that, but the number of times I have to refer to an e-mail to see what to put in the calendar ... I think it's better for me to keep them separate. Plus, at home I get the Gmail POP'd to Thunderbird anyway, so it's a non-issue.

But thanks for the tip! Who knows, in the future it may turn out to be exactly what I need.

Doesn't Gmail have a create event from email function so you don't have to bop back and forth?

Also if you're using Thunderbird to POP mail... you can also get Sunbird to control your Google Calendar(s) and then the Lightning Add-on for Thunderbird which pulls in the Sunbird info (One of these days I'm sure they'll finally more easily merge Thunder and Sun, but until then this is the way to get Thunderbird as close to Outlook as possible).
