So I live in NoVA. I've been thinking for the past year about moving to Maryland, with the following reasoning:

• I work in Maryland.
  
• I curl in Maryland.
  
• More and more of my friends are leaving Virginia, but not leaving Maryland.

But:

• I like my apartment.
  
• I like my building.
  
• I like my neighborhood.
  
• I don't especially like my taxes, but I like them better than what they'd be if I lived in Maryland.
  
• Moving to Maryland feels like wasting a vote. NoVA is the reason the Democrats have the majority in the Senate, y'all. It's not like I feel I'm turning the tide or anything -- Arlington County is sapphire blue -- but I do feel like my vote does more good here than it would in MD.

And now it's confirmed that Mark Warner is going to run for John Warner's seat?

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere.

I think John Warner will be a shoe-in. The names they've tossed about on the GOP side aren't very exciting.

John Warner is the one who's retiring. :-)

But you (inadvertently) make a decent point, which is that a fair number of people may see the name "Warner" on the ballot and believe they're re-electing the guy they've already got.
