here in the People's Republic of Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax
So I live in NoVA. I've been thinking for the past year about moving to Maryland, with the following reasoning:
Yeah, I'm not going anywhere.
- I work in Maryland.
- I curl in Maryland.
- More and more of my friends are leaving Virginia, but not leaving Maryland.
- I like my apartment.
- I like my building.
- I like my neighborhood.
- I don't especially like my taxes, but I like them better than what they'd be if I lived in Maryland.
- Moving to Maryland feels like wasting a vote. NoVA is the reason the Democrats have the majority in the Senate, y'all. It's not like I feel I'm turning the tide or anything -- Arlington County is sapphire blue -- but I do feel like my vote does more good here than it would in MD.
Yeah, I'm not going anywhere.

But you (inadvertently) make a decent point, which is that a fair number of people may see the name "Warner" on the ballot and believe they're re-electing the guy they've already got.
