I think this is a fair point, and I actually think your best solution is going to be to make a sign (put it in a poly sleeve to protect against multiple tapings; I have a few extra in the lab if you need one) that says "Transcription in progress; quiet is appreciated!" and tape it to your closed door when you're working on this. That conference room was chosen because it's out of the middle of everything and sensitive stuff goes on during that meeting; nobody there wants to be overheard any more than you want to hear them. But it also tends to start late, and we keep the door open before it starts so people can know they're not walking in during the middle of something, so, yeah. :(

The good news is that, due to the nature of the building, closing your door should cut out a lot of the noise. And I'll mention it at the beginning of next week's meeting, as well; with that particular group I can offer no promises that anybody is going to CARE, but there you go.
