Not the square-toe cast-on, but I am succeeding at toe-up.  The figure-8 cast-on from this page is, in fact, as they say, tricksy -- but I've got it now, and I've got about half a toe done.  It's got some gaps in it, so now that I know what I'm doing I'm going to rip it back and start again, but, HURRAH!

neotoma, I'd still be glad if you'd help me with the one that had me stymied.  Because damn, you know?
