So it was a good thing I won the eBay auction, because I was at IKEA this afternoon, and the lamps I'd wanted?  The ones that had been out of stock for ages but when I asked how come if they were never available they were still on display, I was told they were just out of stock, and just because they didn't know when the new ones were going to come in didn't mean they were discontinued or anything?

I did buy a floor lamp to match the one I've already got, though.  Plus a frame in which to put my sepia-tone cross-stitch, and a deep frame in which to put a quilt square my grandmother made (so it isn't smushed against the glass).  And a duvet cover for the comforter I got from the Amazon gold box a couple of months ago.  And I did win the eBay auction, and paid for the stuff, so I should be getting the goods pretty soon.  Hooray!

What I wanted was Tyft (http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/80072045), which is a plug-in wall lamp (and it's not possible to order lighting from the website or catalogue in the US, so it doesn't even appear - unlike Australia, where you evidently can't order anything from the website, so it all appears), but when it reaches me I won't be using the yellow plate or the red gel or anything. Plain white for me, I think, or possibly the cut-out but without the color.

The floor lamp is Orgel (http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/00018180). I already had one, and there was still a big dark area in my living room, so now I have a matched pair.

Oooooo, I know Orgel which is not really massively original, but Tyft is VERRA PRETTEEE!!! (and of course it would be the one they discontinue? Fuckers.)

No, it's not original at all. But I like it. :-) I have a bedside lamp which is not precisely the same, but near enough (it has a slightly different pull chain, which is actually easier to grab at in the dark), and now I feel all coordinatey. Heh. There's an Orgel wall sconce as well, but it requires hard-wiring. Bummer.
