what's in my bag

Unlike [livejournal.com profile] kaalee, I had not seen this elsewhere, but it amused me when I saw it at her place, so here we go.

The contents of my bag, unedited.

This is my bag.

It's a Harvey's Seatbelt Bag medium tote in DeLorean Silver.  Or, it was when I bought it.  At the time, the totes came in different sizes than they do now, and they were still using various auto makers' trade names in their colors.  (My first seatbelt bag was in a color they called "Ferrari red".)  They don't do that anymore.  The current closest approximation of this bag is the large tote zip in stainless steel; my bag has a snap instead of a zipper, but it looks like they're not making them that way anymore.

This is what's inside.

Whew.

Top-ish row, L to R:
-moleskine notebook
-moleskine address book
-moleskine date book
-bottle of guaifenesin tablets
-bottle of ibuprofen
-bottle of allergy medicine
-two kinds of eye drops (for use with and without contact lenses)
-bottle of hand lotion, a freebie from the vaccine study
-purple pen
-blue pen
-receipt from IKEA, receipt from the gas station
middle-ish row, L to R:
-two checkbooks (one from the account near my parents, which i should probably close out, and one from BoA)
-a bunch of mail:  a lot of bonspiel entries, a check from the vaccine study and my dental benefits card, a bank statement, and some bills
-my phone
-three safety pins and a paperclip
bottom-ish row, L to R:
-wintergreen altoids
-raspberry sour altoids
-hairbrush
-glasses case with hair rubberband around it
-my wallet
-a business card from the policeman who handled the whole thing with Lexus Girl*
-the IKEA map, and most of a bar of IKEA chocolate that I got for completing a survey
-a packet of tissues
-my badge, keys, etc. from work

This is what's in the (single; more recent bags have more!) inside pocket.

Clockwise from top L:
-the keychain-thing that comes with it, which I guess I've never taken out of there
-my Pills
-burt's beeswax lip balm
-a moist towelette from some time I flew Virgin Atlantic
-a dose of sudafed
-a pencil
-a contact lens case
-a compact
-two hair rubberbands

I usually have a lipstick or two, another pencil, and (believe it or not) a pencil sharpener in there as well, but I've had those variously in ziploc bags for traveling and my red bag for choir practice in the past little while, so.

* Speaking of Lexus Girl, it occurred to me a couple of weeks ago that I hadn't heard anything more on that since the time that my agent called me to say he'd had a claim from Lexus Dad, and did I know anything about it.  I'd told him I dinged the car in the parking lot, and he said Lexus Dad had been really snippy with him but he'd take care of it.  That was weeks ago.  So I called the number to track the progress of a claim, and spoke to someone who looked it up -- and it turns out that they're waiting on photographs and an estimate from Lexus Family and/or their insurance.  Because of course they're not just going to give Lexus Dad what he asks for without some evidence that that's what I'm responsible for.  Piece of cake, right, but they've been waiting for six weeks or more.  Friends, it may be that Lexus Dad went ahead and had the work done and was trying to get my insurance to pay for all of it, and given that my insurance isn't going to roll over he's just decided to eat the costs and learn not to do that again.  (Or it may be that I get a call tomorrow about how he filed the appropriate documents, but, odds?)  The guy on the phone said pretty soon they were going to mark the claim as "inactive" or similar, although of course if they get the pictures etc. in future they'll pay out.  Still, though, gotta love them for sticking to their guns.  State Farm - consider this a recommendation.
