yay shiny pin.

So our third game, we didn't play quite so much like crap, but it was crappy enough to lose in seven ends.  We could have played the eighth, but given that the loss at 1:30 meant we had to play again at 6:30, so we in the front end said Please can we not sweep any more right now.

At 6:30 we found our game again and took care of our opponents in six ends.  Worst thing in that game:  the call on Skip B's second shot of the third end was a hit and stick for five, and in being super-careful not to kick the guards I was stepping around, I put my foot down too close to the path of the running rock and kicked it.  Ruined the shot, so we got one instead of five.  Sucked.  Nobody was angry about it except me, but I was furious with myself.  Lead T tried to tell me it hadn't affected it and the shot would have missed anyway, but he was mistaken and Vice D and I both said so -- no, it was perfect, and I burned it.  On the way back from sweeping T's rocks in the fourth end, Vice D put her arm around my shoulder and said Okay, mourning period's over, now you're over it; and you know how it feels when you are just about over something, but someone trying to comfort you knocks you back three steps?  I just didn't. want. to. talk. about it, and I shook her off, and to her credit, she backed right the hell off, and I got in the hack and made both of my shots perfectly, which helped a lot.  And then in the fifth end we got four, and I turned to Vice D and said Now I'm over it.  :-]

So, yeah, we won that game, which meant we were in the jewelry round -- guaranteed a shiny pin either way.  Plus we didn't have to play at 9am this morning, which a lot of other people did.  Poor bastards.  Our game at noon didn't start off so auspiciously -- we gave up a steal of one in the first -- but then we took five in the second, stole one in the third, gave up two in the fourth, took two (I think) in the fifth, and stole four in the sixth, and they called it.  Yay shiny pin.

Am exhausted.  Need job.  Message ends.

you need to take video of your games, then do a 'highlights' reel for us. I really have no idea about curling - I saw about 60 seconds of coverage during the olympics.

Heh. Some time we'll have to have another Soiree at [livejournal.com profile] mrshamill's, and I can narrate a video of a full game. I doubt it'll be a game I'm in, but it'll be a game nonetheless. :-)
