no, really, i don't judge.

I pimped A Tangled Skein at [livejournal.com profile] wordplay today, and was successful.  And while I was there, I swapped the broken-loop bag for a whole one, and picked up the needles I was after ... and bought four skeins of sock yarn hush up now.

What's actually funny is that the lady was showing us sock yarn custom-dyed by someone local with names of DC neighborhoods.  Nice stuff.  And this conversation happened:
her:  That pink one is Dupont Circle.
me:  Of course it is.
her:  Right, so you get it.
me:  And this one -- [reaching for a skein in a sort of bricky color scheme, orange and brown with some shots of cream] -- would be Capitol Hill.  [looks at label]  Oh my god, it's Capitol Hill.  Dude!  How did I do that?!
The yarn I bought was Happy Feet, two skeins in bright firey red and two in a crushed-berry sort of purply red.  I also have two skeins a friend sent me in a bluer purple.  I am well covered for purples and reds.  [nod]  Need to find a sock pattern having something to do with flames for the first, brightest red.  [nod]

I love Neighborhood Fiber Company (http://www.neighborhoodfiberco.com/wordpress/) -- one of these days I'll use their brushed mohair in something.

Hee! I look forward to your sock projects! Sockknitting is kind of like potato chips -- you don't stop at just one!

Next month I will have to get some of that Capitol Hill yarn and make socks for my friend who got me into sock knitting, or similar.

Holy Small World, Bat-Man. That local is the girlfriend of my wife's former employee.

Stop making me want to start knitting with your pretty yarn descriptions, woman. ;)
