boring decor updates
I have these two shelves with decorative brackets that I normally hang up together. One three feet, one four feet, and the way I've hung them up the past couple of times I've lined up the brackets on one side so the things are a little off-center, comme ça --
I'd identified the spot in the new place where I was going to hang the shelves, and I got the first bracket for the bottom shelf attached to the wall, and only now does it become clear to me that I don't really have room for both of them over there. Vertically, I mean. The ceilings are a little lower here, plus there's a ceiling fan over in the dining area, plus it's the dining area, right, so there's a table and chairs over there and I don't want the person sitting in the chair on that side of the table to risk bumping his or her head on the shelf or the brackets.
That's okay, though. I can put the longer shelf over there and the shorter one in my bedroom. No worries. Only the bracket that's up there now is a little low if there's only going to be one shelf on that wall. So tomorrow I'll detach it and reattach it higher up by a few inches ... and then I'll have two holes in the wall with anchors in them that I'm not using. [sigh, facepalm] But! The top one will be covered by the bracket, right, which is only moving up a few inches; and the bottom one, I can hang something decorative to cover it so I don't have to tug out the anchor and spackle and paint in that sport.
The fun never stops, eh?
