update

I suspect it won't be long before I regret not having an electric kettle. Anyone care to recommend one I can easily get stateside? Crucially, it must not -- like the one at work -- boil and boil and boil but never click. Cordless is a bonus feature (unless it's a bonus feature on kettles these days the way it's a bonus feature on phones, in which case stop looking at me like that.)

I bought this one (http://www.target.com/Chefs-Choice-Cordless-Electric-Kettle/dp/B0000E5IN3/sr=1-1/qid=1233498266/ref=sr_1_1/186-2865321-1718614?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Aelectric%20kettle&page=1) at my local Target, and it didn't cost $49, either (more like $25). It's been great. It turns itself off when it boils, and it does have a clicky noise when it turns off.

I have this guy:

http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-5500-01USA-Cordless-Electric-Kettle/dp/B00006F2M6/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1233506262&sr=8-5

by "cordless" they mean "only the base has a cord"; the kettle itself does not have a cord attached to it.

I am fond of mine, which was a gift, but I'm pretty sure it's this one:

This looks to be a newer model of the one we've had for years:
