So I've been sick with one goddamn head cold after another since the middle of January, right?

Yeah. Went to the doctor this morning for a throat culture, and she listened to my symptoms and ordered some blood work and doesn't it turn out I'm toting MONO over here. Marvelous. Couldn't be happier. I shall now stay at home until the next team meeting, Friday at 11, and consume fluids in massive quantities.

Grar.

Whee.

When I had mono a few years ago, I turned out to be one of the lucky minority who gets yes, the exhaustion, but also a motherfucker of a case of insomnia, so I would fall asleep of total OH GOD NEED SLEEP and wake up like 12 minutes later and be unable to go back to sleep. Leading to--I shit you not--falling asleep standing up on the way to the bathroom (falling asleep standing up means waking up leaning against the wall. I did not know humans even could do this.)

I anti-wish that shit on you, and hope you can just, you know, sleep for four days, eat a million helpings of applesauce and soup and tea, and feel better.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry you went through that, and I do not want it. When I was in college I had a CMV, which is basically a lot like mono but from a different virus; I would sleep for fifteen hours, wake up, take a shower, and be so exhausted from showering that I had to lie down for a while before I could muster the energy to get dressed. (My lymph nodes were so swollen they stood out from my neck. It was grotesque. I wore a scarf for weeks.) I'm not that exhausted now - just, you know, able to get through the day, only worn down - but I know myself well enough to know if I were that tired and unable to sleep I would just lie there and cry.
