So I’m doing all these annotated transcripts, yeah, but I’m holding onto them and publishing them one at a time as I’m (more or less) sure they’re ready. But UGH, the number of times I’ve forgotten to set a post to “private” and therefore inadvertently (if temporarily) posted a thing that was very much in progress. And then today UGH the one time I didn’t hit ctrl-a ctrl-c before I hit “save” and there was an error and I lost everything.

Le sigh.

Is the phrase "technical difficulties" still used in error messages / screen messages / other alerts that it's time to be patient and it's not just us?

Or is one of our kids one day going to say, "I wonder why that phrasing is always used," and make our hearts stop? Like that person on tumblr who wondered where the 'pod' in 'podfic' came from.

OH MY GOD.

Do they know why "clockwise" is called "clockwise"? . . . Was it my kid or someone else's who recently asked why we "hang up" a phone? /o\
