sekrit message to MA members

oh, great. here we go again. [headdesk]

can I confess that I don't know which thread you're talking about here? I've read them all before and the answers never change: I like feedback, no one gives me any, don't you like me? should I post all at once, or in dribs and drabs? I'm a scaredy cat and don't want to be critiqued.

Feh on it all.

no wonder I stopped doing the meta thing and only read stories.

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
it's the latest story from "pms nightmare from hell". just makes me wish i had a spork -- and i haven't even read it.

[identity profile] batdina.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
ah. that one. I have two rules for reading fiction: if you haven't chosen a name that's sensible, that's one strike and depending on my mood and the set up of my emailer, you may or may not get looked at further. but if you get past that hurdle, and then announce up front that you don't care about presentation, that's a pop-fly directly to first base and you're outta there. To wit: NOTE: I refuse continue to rearrange the thing when Yahoo screws up the paragraphs no matter HOW many times I try to fix it!

Does this one have a reputation? I'm only back to receiving mail again for about a week.

If you're feeling brave, search the M-A list archive on "Jane Streeter." That's her. Although I think most of her kerfuffles were on the old list that is no more.

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
oh, jesus, a reputation indeed. i think her previous efforts were lost in the purge, though. very sad, very sad.

it's true, what [livejournal.com profile] sithdragn says, that it doesn't normally become a big deal until the general population responds to the baiting. so it's not so much that we're in for more troll-roasting -- but we are in for more trolling, of that i'm sure.

The last two times she posted to MA (general posts, not fiction) and no one responded, she disappeared again for months. No one can dictate to another member what they should and should not post about (within list rules obviously), but if people really want to see less of her, it's a matter of common sense.

As for the content of her most recent offering -- yup, more of the same. But admittedly entertaining in its own twisted way.

I'd been wondering if you'd banned her for some reason; I'm kind of glad the list just learned to ignore her instead. She's a major PITA--and I wish she'd quit getting involved in every fandom I'm in!--but I think ignoring her is the best way to deal with her. And you never know, she might someday post something intelligent. Maybe.

It's all coming back.... The last interaction the list had with her was last summer/fall sometime. She posted something relatively provocative about how Qui-Gon had abused Obi-Wan when he first refused him as his padawan, the list took it and ran with it, and then she started complaining that the discussion hadn't gone in the direction she wanted it to. It was pretty choice. She's just generally a pain in the rear and a terrible writer to boot.

I read it. It sucks. I kept thinking to myself, WHERE is she getting this characterization? From the bottom of a Cracker Jack box? Sentences that go halfway wherever they're headed and end. Other sentences looking like she cut them in half and capped the first word, they're that inarticulate.

I just don't get it. She's supposed to be an adult, right? Not an eleven year old. Rosie wrote better than that when she was eleven.

I wondered how long it would be before someone posted to LJ.

As long as people don't make a big deal, it doesn't become a big deal. ::shrug::

i say nothing. (not where anybody can hear me. [g])

My sentiments exactly. I suspect my delete key is about to get a workout.

NOBODY SAY ANYTHING. It only encourages her.

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
easy, dude. nobody has said anything, and i don't think anybody plans to. settle the hell down. :-)

[identity profile] emila-wan.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
More a warning to myself. I was *SO* tempted! *G*

I'm keeping quiet but I know of a few people who think it is their personal mission to bait her. Hopefully, I'll talk to one in particular and try to keep her at bay. Maybe she won't see you-know-who's post.

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
i admit that i can't quite think of who you mean -- but i wish you every success. :-) go with god, may the force be with you, etc., etc.

err... not at all relating to this

[identity profile] darthrami.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
but mr. boss man is asking about you, wants to know if you're okay. I would've sent you an e-mail, but figured this would be quicker. :-D

[identity profile] darthfox.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 11:22 am (UTC)(link)

Got it, thanks.

Highlights of today so far:

Loud Phone Lady, *yelling* into the phone this morning, "Silence is golden!"

K telling me that she couldn't look at my face while D was talking at the follow-up lunch. *snort*

Drinking game?

[identity profile] orange852.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
I thought Emu wrote up a pretty fine drinking game for fandom kerfuffles. Isn't anyone the least bit curious about how many list members y'all can put under the table with this?

Re: Drinking game?

[identity profile] batdina.livejournal.com 2004-04-27 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
well, I'm not a drinker, but I am a former college composition instructor. give me a bit of time and I'm sure I can come up with a private way to keep us all occupied while this one fills our mailboxes.

what the hell, right? I'm feeling evil and I have done this in ages.

Re: Drinking game?

[identity profile] the-emu.livejournal.com 2004-04-28 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
She remembered my drinking game! Wheee!

But she's not worth a srinking game anymore. Soooooo last year.

And, just for the record, Fox and Miss Sithdragn, I wrote my 'Show me your Obi' reply before she posted her story. But I got disconnected, and it stuck in my inbox overnight, so it was an amusing coincidence rather than a subtle poke.

Show me your Obi?

I'm going to have to take m_a off no-mail, obviously. This sounds like great gobs of fun.

But wait... there's more!

(Anonymous) 2004-04-28 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Check yer email, Fox. This one, I couldn't even finish.
