well, that does pick me up a bit -- both of the alleys were immediately obvious to me. and the fact that the werewolf's name is lupin. and that sirius' familiar (or animal form, whatever) is a dog. but, shoot, you know, i speak enough brit to realize that "spellotape" is kind of a cute little gag, and i just didn't make the fawkes connection. (i'd blame it on being preoccupied with schoolwork, but i've been not making the connection for some time now, and plus it was a while before i figured out the mirror of erised, too. talk about lame -- i'm a linguist, and i couldn't crack that code. oy. [g])
They're kind of like an optical illusion, where you can't see anything for the longest time, then you turn your head just right and it jumps out at you, and you're wondering how you could have missed it. I just wonder how many plays on words are going right over my head because I'm (a) not British or (b) oblivious.
