sunday roundup of randomness

today i saw what may have been the ugliest dog i've ever seen that wasn't a boston terrier.  i swear i think it was half husky and half dachshund -- short-legged and sausagey like a wiener dog, but with the pointy face and sort of blue-grey coat you normally see on the huskies and akitas of the world.  i don't know that i would have thought the sizes were compatible, but i know very nearly nothing about breeding dogs, so what do i know, maybe you can breed a dachshund with a malamute just fine.

charlie and the chocolate factory:  oh, hell, yeah.  good lord did that movie please me.  yayyay!

i am cranky and out of sorts tonight, in that way you sometimes are when you have no idea why.  wah.

Bet it was a Corgi.

They're *quite* odd looking. And the Queen breeds one kind or the other, can't remember which (Cardigans have tails, Pembrokes don't).

i was looking at dogbreedinfo.com last night, to try to work out what the non-dachshund parent was likely to be, and i saw the corgis there -- i suppose it's possible, but the coloring wasn't at all corgi-like (at least according to the pictures here), and the ears weren't that big. i mean seriously, it was like a malamute's head on a dachshund's body.

The hitherto-unknown phrase 'wiener dog' has made me laugh way, way more than it should. (Have always known them as Dachshunds.)
