LA LA LA I'M NOT LISTENING
So apparently the seventh title is Out There now. Of course it's nonsense to suppose I'll be able to get all the way to the day of release without knowing the title (although we didn't know the title of Goblet of Fire until they day of, does anyone remember? a friend of mine who was working at a bookstore at the time still has a standing display with the original fourth title, before it was leaked -- Harry Potter and the Doomspell Tournament, which is a much better name for the book and the contest; but I digress), but damn if I'm not going to try. Therefore: can someone let me know if there's also a release date that we know about? And also, I would like people to either make every effort to avoid spoiling me in any way, shape or form, which chiefly involves letting me know if you're not going to make particular effort, so that I can make an effort to avoid your spoilers on my own. :-)
There. Fannishness out of the way. Tonight is the first Messiah performance. The soloists were there last night, obviously, and they were all very good, although the alto and the bass were marking so it wasn't so easy to hear them. The soprano and the tenor were audible, though, and the soprano in particular was fun -- fun to watch, because especially on her recitatives she was making like she was telling a story, really engaging with the (fictitious, last night, but still) audience. Also, at one point early in "Come unto him, all ye that labor", she did a decorative figure that didn't turn out the way she wanted, which we knew because in the beat and a half of rest that followed it she turned to the alto and made a face and went "ugh, ick." Hee!
