Et tu, Maryland?

(The Maryland Court of Appeals has overturned a lower court's decision finding that the state law limiting marriage to opposite-sex couples is unconstitutional.  There is still hope that the legislature will repeal it, I suppose, but for now the law stands.)

D'ya know that MD won't recognize domestic partners either? Even heterosexual ones? For the same reasons?

I can't decide if the domestic-partnership thing makes me think "Hey, at least they're consistent[ly assholish] -- only married is married and they're really not kidding", or "Oh, for christ's SAKE". Probably a bit of both. See also Virginia, Ohio.

Don't you find that first sentence ... convoluted? It took me three tries to get it. It's like C++ code or something. Or German. You have to go to the end of the sentence and work backwards to get the meaning.
