i want to be like snape.
no, no, not really. i won't be mean (well, not that mean, and not without reason), and i won't play favorites, and you can be sure i'll wash my hair daily. but i want to be able, like mr. alan rickman in the movie, to stride into the classroom on the first day and say "there will be no foolish wand-waving in this class"; and i want to be able, like resonant's snape in the familiar, to write comments at the top of students' papers like "even the fatuity of your premise does not excuse the shoddiness of your research."
maybe i'd better hold off on that until i have tenure.
