A/C, DC

Home again.  It's nice out, and very warm inside, which means it's spring and the heat is still on.  Sigh.

Not even looking at skip=seven zillion.

Finished the Sekrit Baby Blanket.  Must just weave in ends, and it will be ready to give to baby-expecting friends tomorrow evening.

Having restful afternoon on couch before heading off to rehearsal, which was the reason I changed my flight to one where I had to get up at 3am in Grand Forks.  Aiea.

Hey, how did you interpret the note from C about R meeting with everyone who'd signed up for the semi-chorus? Last week, he had everyone who'd signed up just stand and sing it when we reached the movement- do you think he's likely to cull the fold or to just rehearse it?

My guess is he's going to chicken out and have everyone who wants to do it, do it -- but there could be culling if there's someone who really doesn't fit, I guess. It's not impossible or unheard-of (not forgetting that he fired someone from Messiah last Christmas at the last rehearsal before performance weekend), but I do think it's unlikely.

I imagine he well may chicken out. I did notice that- no surprise- there seemed to be a good deal more women than men who stood, so I wonder if he might NEED to do something for the sake of getting a balance.

Wow. I never heard about the Messiah- I've always cut out for home before the concert, so I never heed the buzz...

It was a small group made up of some of us from CCS, some of his Bach Cantata peeps, and I believe some other professional types (KH his favorite tenor was among them, frex [g]). And one day he was scooting around various sections while the real conductor was rehearsing us, and then one of the altos was gone, and the way I heard it, she was an MFA student at Catholic that he'd hired without an audition on the recommendation a friend who's one of her professors (or something like that), and at T minus 72 hours or something she still didn't know the music, which, yeah, no, right? I mean, I didn't know it before I got the gig, but I learned it, you know what I'm saying?

Erm, yeah- it's called being professional, which is a talent apparently not all people have. I'm glad to see that R can step up when necessary...
