watching the tonys as they copy to the VCR

I tell you what, ever since the damn thing was new, the opening number of The Lion King has just made me cry with the genius of it.  The music is fabulous, of course, but you know, it's really the giraffes that get me.  All the other puppets after that just make it impossible for me pull myself together, but the giraffes are what fall me apart in the first place.

Oh man, yer telling me!

We went to NYC for a weekend on our honeymoon in January 2000 just to see Lion King. 'Endless Night' is what got me through the death of my mother 10 years ago. I knew I was gonna be OK when I could get through that song without bawling my eyes out. Took almost 2 years. I still get choked up when I hear it, but I can sing it all the way through now.

Seeing that show in person, in New York was an absolute dream. The music is out of this world. (I was a huge fan of 'Rhythm of the Pridelands' after the Lion King movie came out though... so a lot of the 'new' songs in the Broadway show were familiar to me already.) 'Shadowlands' is (IMO) the best song in the show.
