I've got the Olympics on during lunch, and there's rhythmic gymnastics, and all I can think of to call these competitors is "bendy girls".  :-)

hee, I had it on too and was trying to come up with a name for them. I like bendy girls :)

Rhythmic gymnastics is so strange. It's a relatively new sport but it seems oddly dated to me.

I'm not sure about the trampoline? "Boing-y girls"? Maybe "bouncy girls" is the best, it's hard to find something without any Man Show overtones.

I think the newness and the datedness are related. (It's been in the Olympics since 1984, with the group competition since 1996.) Note how the leaders are all Russians (and former Soviets); I suspect it's really taken off since the state of "real" gymnastics has moved on past the old Russian style that used to be what did all the winning.
