things that suck:

turning on the tap and watching as no water comes out of the faucet.

tried all the other taps in the apartment; sure enough, there's just no water. wish i'd known that before i needed to wash my hands, eh? find water-free hand-washing gel stuff left over from extreme drought. open apartment door; fail to find memo saying Dear Tenants, we're turning your water off. call management company, tell them there's no water. "yeah," the girl on the phone says, "they're doing work on the building next door to yours? and they didn't realize the pipes were connected. i can call you when it's back on."

grr.

update: turns out the reason they're doing work next door is because a pipe burst over there. so, you know, i can handle the lack of advance notice -- but it would have been nice if they'd told us as soon as they knew, instead of letting us find out for ourselves. now it's just a matter of waiting for the water to come back on ... when that will be is anybody's guess.

SimAnnalise has been packed off to military school! I try to get her to study, but she won't; she's in a rotten mood. I try to get her to have fun and play with her friends, to get her mood up, so she'll be willing to study, but no matter how much she plays, the "social" bar never seems to change much.

I didn't save the game, so she's not gone yet. Next time I'll try something else.
